Between 1983 and 1991, the internationally acclaimed Austrian sculptor, Alfred Hrdlicka, created a monument for the Albertinaplatz in Vienna. It stands forever against war and fascism. This very controversial work is documented in a two-volume publication. In addition to a description of the creation of the monument, more than 200 excellent colour and b/w photographs not only convey an overall view of Hrdlicka’s work of art, but also refer to details that have long been overlooked. – The reaction both of the Austrian and international media to this monument is documented in the second volume.
